Over 200 plant and animal species were recently discovered in a remote rain forest in Papua New Guinea by a team of scientists from Conservation International, partnered with A Rocha International and Papua New Guinea’s Institute for Biological Research. The new species included 24 frogs, two mammals, 100 insects and an assortment of spiders. One of the most interesting mammals discovered is known as the “Yoda Bat” for its remarkable resemblance to the Star Wars character.
More info on this unique tube-nosed fruit bat will be posted as it becomes available.
